2023 Scholarship Programme - Specialty Awards

In addition to the general technical awards, students may also be eligible for one of the below awards depending on their field of study and other criteria.

Bahamas Billfish Championship Scholarship (Lyford Cay Foundation Inc.)

  • One technical training and vocational scholarship in marine mechanics valued up to $10,000 USD
  • For study in technical training and vocational scholarship in marine mechanics
  • Technical Training and Vocational: Graduation from high school or its equivalent is a prerequisite for consideration; however, applicants who do not have a high school diploma may be considered on the basis of other successful experiences that demonstrate their ability to perform satisfactorily at college level.

 
Solmssen Templeton Scholarship (Lyford Cay Foundation Inc.)

  • One scholarship awarded annually, valued up to US$10,000 per year.
  • For a Certificate, Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Court Reporting or Court Stenography

 
TK Foundation Technical Scholarships (Lyford Cay Foundations Inc.)

  • Awarded annually, valued up to $15,000 per year.

 
The Thomson Leadership & Innovation Scholarship (The Canadian Lyford Cay Foundation)

  • One award valued up to CAD $30,000 annually.
  • For study in Canada at the graduate or technical level

The Thomson Leadership & Innovation Award is designed to recruit and support students who are driven to improve The Bahamas in areas including but not limited to: entrepreneurial studies, emerging technologies, design, the creative arts and/or the sciences.

To become a Thomson Leadership Scholar …
You Are: A creative thinker and innovator. You have created, lead and/or inspired others to make a measurable impact of change in a community project or in a business. You are passionate and driven to succeed in an emerging field that is underrepresented or wholly not represented in The Bahamas; OR you desire to bring a completely new perspective to a traditional and longstanding field or industry and require further education to do so.

You Have:
• An articulated vision for your life
• Designed a plan for how you will make an impact in The Bahamas through entrepreneurship, creativity and/or innovation
• Demonstrated leadership experience
• Successfully established a new project, business, invention, initiative, programme or otherwise challenged the status quo within a field in The Bahamas
• Substantially served the community
• Persevered through obstacles
• Made sacrifices to achieve a goal
• Applied for Technical & Vocational, Post-Graduate Certificate/Diploma, OR Graduate Studies in Canada
